How long is the course

The course is held over 2 days.  You must attend both days to obtain the qualification.

Do we need to bring our own equipment?

No – we supply all of the equipment required for the course.  You only need to bring yourself, a note pad and pen, a coffee cup, and your lunch!

Do I need to know how to shoot beforehand?

No previous archery knowledge is required, though may be an advantage.

Will it be held indoors or outdoors?

All our courses use our indoor range and classroom.

Is there any prep work I need to do before hand?

No. You will receive everything you need at the beginning of the course.

What is covered on an Archery Instructor Award?

You will be taught how to plan and deliver a basic have a go/taster archery session.  The course covers setting up a range, safety, selecting equipment and some insight into adapting the sport for a variety of abilities.

How is the course assessed?

There are 2 parts to the course:

  1. multiple choice paper, marked by your course tutor
  2. practical session delivery, assessed by your course tutor and an external assessor

How long does the instructor qualification last?

The qualification lasts for 3 years, at which point it will need to be renewed.  You will be contacted by ArcheryGB before your qualification expires with information regarding the renewals process.

Is there a minimum age?

Yes. The youngest age allowed is 17 (up to and including turning 17 on the first day of the course)
