|Welcome to Chiltern Archers|
Our club website is currently being built and will be completed as soon as possible.
Chiltern Archers is one of the UK's largest target archery clubs. Based at Chiltern Archery located in Buckland Village near Aston Clinton between Aylesbury and Tring, members enyoy some of best shooting facilities in Europe.
Archery is a sport for all, and we have members of all abilities from casual shooters through to county champions and archers who have represented Great Britain. The majority of our members shoot recurve bows but we have an ever growing number of keen compound archers, as well as members who shoot Longbows and other more traditional styles.
Club membership requires the applicant to have completed an approved archery beginner's course prior to joining. The club is open to archers of all ages, however there is a minimum age of around 8 years depending on the individual child.
Regular courses are run at Chiltern Archery, each consisting of four two hour sessions on Saturday evening. The course allows newcomers to the sport to learn all the necessary safety aspects as well as teaching the basic shooting skills that they will require to enjoy the sport and progress further if they wish.
We have a large number of junior members within the club, some of whom regularly shoot for Hertfordshire in inter-county competitions. Junior members have thier own session once a week on a Wednesday evening, with coaching every third Wednesday of the month.
Members have access to shooting field all year round seven days a week from 9:00am until it's dark. As the indoor season approaches in mid September, the indoor range is open for club members Monday - Thursday 5:00pm - 9:00pm, with Wednesday 5:00pm - 7:00pm for Juniors only. And Sunday 10:00am - 1:00pm.
Members are welcome to shoot in the indoor range during the Archery Centre opening hours, but the range fee will apply.
For established archers wishing to join, club membership is available only after a brief assessment by one of the club coaches, not as a test of shooting skill, but as an assessment of shooting safety.
Associate membership for archers already affiliated through another club is only available during the outdoor season, and the number of associate spaces is limited.
Chiltern Archers members are affiliated through the club to Archery GB (the UK governing body). Also to the regional Southern Counties Archery Society (SCAS) and to the Hertfordshire County Archery Association.
The club shoots in regular league matches against other Hertfordshire clubs, as well as holding annual indoor and outdoor club tournaments. Members can submit their round scores to the clubs records officer to gain a handicap, and shoot scores towards classification badges.
